If I had better stats than most LSP'd, does that mean I'm likely to get accepted?

I'm still confused about LSP.

I've assumed that LSP was pretty much, you're rejected to the school of your choice, but we'll reconsider you and let to do Liberal Studies.

Then I went on the LSP group on facebook and someone posted that LSP was a select 10% of applicants and that it's a "mystery" what qualifies you for LSP. It could be a captivating essay, specific EC's, or stats as well. I've been looking at stats of those who were accepted to CAS and they were VERY high which worries me even more.

Although It's pretty clear to me now that I'm not LSP'd, Im curious.. what does admissions look for in LSP admissions? Is it something specific or was my previously held notion right..

And my stats are

88.6uw 92.9w 2ap's, 3 ap's this year
terrible SAT 2's 670 math2 620 u.s.
Super Score SAt 1's - 2130
strong ec's, strong essays Chinese

I was hoping to get LSP'd.. but guess not

I’m running into the same problem, colij. I have a good GPA, slightly lower SATs then most (but apparently in range for NYU according to college board) and pretty decent extra curriculars, recs, and essays. I thought I was going to be LSP’d, because in one way or another my stats evened out with or were higher than those who were LSP’d, but still no letter.

Honestly, I think the whole college admissions process is incredibly random. I don’t think not getting an LSP letter means you are any more likely to get accepted. I think LSP also has to do with the type of person you are, and when you take that into consideration + the fact that those people still fell in range for NYU scores, I feel like maybe I just didn’t fit the profile of an LSP student (i.e. I like the idea of big classes). So really, I think its still a toss up whether students like us will get in. :-</p>

But of course, good luck  We should find out tomorrow…Tuesday at LATEST (I’m from NJ… you’re from LI right?) I’m hoping for the best :D

many ppl who have same/higher stats as u with higher sat II scores and loads of ECs got LSPed

Many people don’t realize that sometimes stats have nothing to do with admissions. There are way too many “outside” factors to just claim stats will get you accepted to college. I got accepted to Pomona college in California even before hearing back from NYU for Early Decision. Why?

Because my favorite uncle works there.

Dude…
I had an 1880
and i gave the SAT 4 TIMES! I know! Pathetic! =P
But i got LSPeed on =D

From the stats of last year’s students, I think strong applicants with slightly lower test scores than desired (roughly < 2100) are typically the ones who are LSPed.
