If I liked Yale, I should also look into...

Yale attracted me because of it's sense of community (residential colleges), relatively middle sized population, the gorgeous campus, and diversity in terms of majors and people. I want to major in biology, but would rather not go to a science oriented school because I want to have a good, if not great background in the humanities too. New Haven in general was also pretty nice (I like cities).

So, any opinions?

Williams (rural location may be a negative though), Brown, Georgetown, WashU-St. Louis are soem that come to mind. maybe Princeton(?)

princeton's got everything you're looking for but the urban setting. it is, however, just an hour away from NYC and philly, both of which most find preferable to new haven.

yeah, definitely princeton. I guess also Harvard. UPenn is also surprisingly beautiful.

Duke, Hopkins,Northwestern, UChicago.

Rice !

How about some easier-to-get into schools with admit rates of around 30%+?

UChicago or Johns Hopkins if you like Baltimore.

Boston College, maybe?

nerdatheart, are you my twin?

Duke, Princeton, Dartmouth are all reaches but sort of similar

For the urban larger school feel, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, University of Chicago, Penn. For the gentlemanly, somewhat liberal intellectual environment with a sense of community, Princeton, Williams, Amherst, Wesleyan.

haha theoneo I also live in Jersey.

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

bump.

consider Swarthmore

William and Mary. About the same size undergraduate population as Yale. Small university with LAC feel.

UPenn is amazingly beautiful with a great campus inside a great city. If you liked Yale, check out Georgetown and Duke. Also, you should look at Tufts - although it's not in a city, it's 5 minutes away from Boston but it's a great school. If you want to move a little more west, try Washington University in St. Louis - it's known for its research in science but is gaining in reputation in other areas. Check it out.
