What single passion should I try and present on my application? I'm currently involved in the newspaper, yearbook, and speech team. Speech team seems loosely connected. I was planning on doing some summer research internship in science over the summer, but now that I think about it it seems a little bit stretched out. Here's a short list of the ECs I'm listing:
[ul][]Newspaper []Yearbook []Speech []SADD []XC []Tennis []Piano/Orchestra []Hospital, Library, Animal Shelter volunteering/fundraising projects etc.[/ul]

For Newspaper, I was head writer 9th grade, some random editor 10th grade, and editor in chief 11th-12th. For yearbook, I participated since 9th grade, and became a layout editor in 10th grade. For speech, I really began to get good in 10th grade and I'm sure I can secure a leadership position in 11th and 12th. For SADD, I was VP in 10th and then Pres for 11th-12th. For XC, I earned a varsity letter 9th-12. For Tennis, I'm probably only going to be varsity for 11th grade, maybe 10th. For Piano/Orchestra, I've performed in NYC (i.e. Carnegie) and am first chair on the school's chamber orchestra. I've played since I was 5, but I don't do it rigorously. Hospital Library and Animal shelter were all for 4 years, and I volunteer for several hundred of hours. Probably 500 or so by the time I apply.

I was thinking about picking up science research over the summer, but then I realized although I was interested in it, it doesn't really fit in the scheme of my things. Would I be better off taking the most advanced science courses in school, while focusing on my writing/journalism? I don't want to spread myself out with an EC that I don't really have any credential/previous experience with. Any thoughts?
