If I passed Spanish 3 but only spent 2 years in HS and 1 year in middle school....

Does that mean I am able to opt out of the Foreign Language requirement at Berkeley?

I looked around but couldn't find a definite answer. Thanks guys!

Generally, UCs look at level completed of high school foreign language, or equivalent or higher proven proficiency. You can ask directly if you have any questions.

How does one usually go about ‘asking directly?’ Maybe I’m really bad at searching but all I can find are the admissions and financial aid emails.

Thanks ucbalumnus

As long as you complete the third level of study, ie. Spanish 3, you will be exempt from that requirement. I asked them the same exact question a few years ago.
