Hi guys,

So I just received my horrible SAT grades. All three sections were all in the 500s. I also took the ACT Writing which I got 31 on. I only want to send in this score and my SATsubject tests. If I send in ACT and SAT subject tests will my SAT I scores get sent as well? In order words can you only send in subject test without SAT I test to colleges?

Yes you can just send SAT subject scores only without the SAT. When you go into the College Board website, it will ask if you want to send all scores or you can mark which ones to send. My S did this last year since his ACT score was much higher than his SAT scores.

It depends on the school, there are several possibilities, including but not limited to:

College permits Score Choice, so you can choose any SAT and/or Subject tests you choose (eg. Dartmouth).

College requires your entire testing history, including ACT/SAT/Subject tests (eg. Penn).

College requires your entire testing history except Subject tests are optional and you can use Score Choice for them (eg. Stanford).

College requires all testing of either ACT or SAT, but if you choose to send any SAT/Subject tests, you must send everything (eg. Yale).

In other words, you need to read the test requirements AND test reporting policies on each school website. I would not advise relying on a composite list like this:

https://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/sat-score-use-practices-list.pdf

as important details can be missing, leading to inaccurate interpretations (eg. Stanford).
