I took an AP test this May; if I didn’t do well, and I decided to take it again next year (and I got a better score), how would my first AP test be treated? Would I be able to cancel that specific score, or be able to decide to not send that specific score to colleges?
You don’t need to send your AP scores to colleges when you apply (except for some international schools), but you can self report them on the common app. If you want you could just report the one you take next year. Colleges might find it a bit odd that you took the AP test the year after the class but its not gonna make or break your application. Or, you could just leave it off entirely.
Don’t include the first score on your application, just that you took the class.
Realism alert: How will you do better on an AP test after being away from the material for a year vs. taking it right after learning the material? If you have to study it again, you can study it in college instead of HS.
hm… ic. thanks for the advice!
