If I transfer in as a sophomore, do they only look at first semester/high school?

I'm planning on applying to Duke and Emory for sophomore year. They want 24 credits each - does that mean I apply in the summer and hear back before the fall? Or do I wait until March 2012 in my case and hear a response for Junior year?

Technically, if they're looking at a 24 credit course load, there should be less weight on the high school transcript, right?

Please help!

You would apply before their deadline which is probably March 1st. Prospective transfer students tend to apply almost immediately after receiving their fall quarter/semester grades. You will not have 24 credits at the time of your application (unless you have AP credit) but you will show your spring quarter/semester schedule, notifying them that you will reach the credit requirement by school year’s end.

If you’re accepted, you would matriculate following your freshman year and enter the school as a sophomore, assuming most of your credits transfer.

Good luck!
