.... was the feedback from a friend. Another friend LOVED it, and actually started arguing with the first when she read her criticism. I'm so lost- I don't know whether to scratch it or keep it! The thing is, I'm applying EA to several schools, so the clock is ticking (plus I've got 10 other essays to worry about)...
Is anyone willing to read it, and just tell me flat-out if I should keep it or trash it?

Hm, sounds interesting...pm me if you'd like (fellow '09er)

I'll read & critique it.

I'm stuck with the same dilemma. I could take a look at it if you like. pm me.

ill read it

Ill tell you if you should keep it or trash it. Lol

Don't let friends or total strangers decide the fate of your essays. While limited criticism from others can be helpful, in the end only you can know whether an essay is sufficiently personal, detailed, honest and revealing.

send it to me.

Omigod. I am going through the same problem. Some of my friends loved it, the others thought I've lost my mind...

Pm it to me and I'll tell you what I think.

I'll read it.

I'll read it if you want.

However, I think you should listen to ADad's advice--don't let too many people's opinions cloud your own thoughts on your essay; in the end the essay should be what YOU want adcoms to see about you not other people's.

pm me, i'll take a look at it

send it to me. i'll read it.

Normally I would agree with posts #7 & #11, but not in this instance. Obviously the two posters in posts 7 & 11 posted before reading the essay. Remember, the essay should help--not hurt--your chances for admission.

send it over :)

sure......ill read it.

PM it over now !

No one, except perhaps really experienced GCs and adcoms themselves, know what adcoms actually are looking for. Admissions departments are experts at giving you the feeling that you know some secret that your peers don't. Okay, you know the generic things, and if your friend broke some basic rules then fine. But the fact is, no one here can tell you if your essay will or will not do the trick, because no one here knows what the trick is (aNd it varies school to school.)

I'll give it a it a look, hopefully I can give relatively good advice because I'm sort of in the same situation here.

well done i must say......very well done. i loved the historical references. good luck.
