If i were to get an AAS in business at CC could i transfer to a 4 year program in business later?

It would all be done at public institutions.

There’s no easy answer to this, since all AAS degrees are not the same, and transfer agreements with 4-year schools also are not all the same. It might be wise to discuss the question with advisors at the specific CC you are interested in. NOT on the phone. Always do this stuff in person to make sure you don’t accidentally talk to a student aid.

One thing to be alert to is that AAS programs tend to be more subject-oriented than AS programs, so that you may end up transferring with many general ed classes you still need to take. Many AAS programs also require different GE courses than the AS/BS students take (e.g., business writing instead of freshman composition, business math instead of college algebra, etc.). This could easily mean that you transfer with 3 years of coursework to complete instead of the usual two.

@Wasatchwriter, thanks for the reply!

Anyone else have knowledge about this or has done it on CC?

Wasatchwriter is correct. It really depends on what CC you attend and what 4-year school you attend, but it is very likely that you will not be a junior business major if you enter with an AAS as opposed to an AS. Many of the AAS classes will not transfer, and you will be missing some other important business classes. Also, as Wasatchwriter says, you may be lacking in the correct general education classes that are needed as well. With really good advisement AND knowing exactly what school you are transferring to, you can minimize the number of incompatible classes, but even then it is very likely that you will end up being deficient in required courses for a BA in business and will have to add some time (one to two semesters) at the four-year school.
