If I withdraw from a class will it effect TAG admissions?

I’m in my first year of community college, second semester. Last semester I took four classes and got straight A’s, but this semester I had a hard time due to illness. I started out at the beginning of the year with four classes, then dropped one without a W due to my health struggles. I am currently taking three classes, and the first two are great, both A’s. My last one is absolutely horrible. I have no idea what my grade it, but that’s not really the point. The professor is horrible and talks about her personal life most of the class, and doesn’t teach anything. I hate it and am getting nothing out of it. Our entire grade will consist of two essays, the midterm, and the final, and the only things we’ve done so far is the midterm, and she STILL hasn’t graded them! I only have a week left to withdraw, and I don’t want to chance it and end up with a horrible grade. But I’m also worried about having a “w” on my transcript. I looked but couldn’t find anything on what this would mean for TAG admissions. I’m really set on transferring to UC Davis for comparative literature, but I’m worried if I withdraw from this class I won’t be eligible. I’m not worried about the units because I’m going to make up classes over the summer. Plus, I also have six college units from taking college classes during high school.

Any advise? Thanks!

Withdraw. It will be fine. Just say you were sick. Don’t chance the grade because they don’t care about Ws.

For UCD’s TAG I believe you need to be a full time student, but “part-time enrollment is permissible for good cause”. As lindyk8 said, you can say you were sick. Talk to the UCD rep in your community college to confirm everything.

UCD TAG full time requirement is for the second year.

^ Lindy is right

Thank you!!
