if I......

get a 550-600 math 550-600 verbal 550-600 writing should i just kiss my chances goodbye?

Nope. Unless you get something like under 400 on all of them, there is always a chance. Of course, your chances my be lower than they were, but you never know. Take a few courses to bump those up, study hard, and also take the ACT's. They'll take the better out of those and the ACT's, and because the tests are so different many people find one to be a lot easier than the other.

i got an 1190 on the old sat and still got in

You still want to try and get the highest score possible though. I would recomend taking the ACT/SAT as much as you can.

haha yeah i totally agree with spot I took a lot of SAT classes and took it a few times.. take it as many times as you can... also definently take the ACT some people like myself do better on the ACT

Yeah, take it as many times as possible. But just know that it's uncommon for scores to go up much higher after you take it more than a few times. I took the SAT four times and it went up after my second try, stayed the same the third time, and went down the fourth time. It may be different for you, though. I mean there's a kid here who got a 1340 the first time, then got a perfect score the second time. Anything goes.

Definitely use the study aids, though. They actually help. You'll know what to expect and you'll have practice with the certain types of questions that the SAT and ACT throw at you. I recommend Princeton Review and Kaplan.

Good luck.
