If I'm applying as a Cognitive Science major...

Okay I've been reading up a lot about cognitive science, neuroscience, and computer science, and I wouldn't mind majoring in any of them. I was going to apply to colleges for computer science, but I've only grown interested in it recently, and I haven't taken any course in it before.
Does it matter? and will it affect my application?
I was thinking of applying as a Cogsci major, but then i was doing research on that and I saw this page on Yale, which says that students have to apply for that major, and I just started thinking that I should have a direct interdisciplinary plan of studying in my essay. Am I right?
So in my essays should I talk about all the departments I'm interested in?
Also, what qualifications do I need? I feel totally unqualified right now.. It seems like accepted Ivy-leaguers have all done significant research in whatever they want to major in...and I have just... idk a good gpa, community service, and music.

Thanks.
