If I'm only 15 when I apply, does it affect my chances of getting into good colleges?

I'm thinking of skipping the 10th grade and wondering that if I'm only 15 years old when i apply to college, will it change the way my application is seen since I will have only had freshman and junior year to get ready? I want to challenge myself, but not if it means that my ec's will keep me from getting into a good school.

Unless your talents are truly extraordinary IE taking PhD level math in your freshman year of high school, yes it will disadvantage you.

So it won’t look good at all, or at least you think the cons outweigh the pros? My classes would still be the highest level offered by the school in 11th and 12th grades.

Yes. Just take more AP classes or dual enrollment with your local college - your school should cover the tuition costs, and you will continue to register as a high school student, taking a few classes there and participating in ECs. The only top school known to be friendly to younger kids is MIT, and even they usually limit their intake to math prodigies.

Bump. Anybody else have any idea?

I think that if you think you can handle skipping 10th grade (you seem very intelligent), do it. If you’re not being challenged, go for it. As long as you take the most rigorous courses offered by your school and earn fairly good grades in them, the colleges you apply to will see that. Colleges know what kind of courses each individual school offers, and they take that into account. So, for instance, if someone’s school only offered two AP classes, and they took those two classes, the college would not hold the fact that the student only took two AP classes against them, because it is beyond their control. Also, I am a strong supporter of the Dual Enrollment program and I am currently a senior. I have been taking Dual Enrollment classes since my freshman year of high school and will be graduating with my Associate of Arts degree. Take advantage of that program if your school offers it! It’s amazing and no cost to you!

So, my opinion is: go for it! Message me for more info or if you need help or opinions on anything else. :)
