If Interviewer said this......

The interviewer said: you will be a great addition to the Princeton community - something to that effect (a wonderful/perfect match for Princeton, etc).

I assume the interview report will be good. How important is this kind of glowing interview report? does it carry meaningful weight - especially a borderline candidate with perfect stats but ECs/passion/interest that cannot be easily demonstrated with institutionalized awards, competition, etc.

Very little.

The interview really only weigh into the process if the interview was mindblowingly good or bad. I think that, generally, it is much more likely that someone will have a good interview than a bad one. Your interview will not be the reason why you get in if you do.

my interviewer said the same kind of thing. why do they give interviews if they are as insignificant as people on here say? how do we know they mean that little?

because the interviewer usually says that the interview is more to inform than to evaluate and it doesn't have a big impact on your app...i know this because i've had 4 interviews so far

All interviewers say something nice. After the first interview you think it's something special and that you knocked it out of the park. However, they all will say something like that.

As long as you're not truly dumb then of course you would be a great addition to any school. The problem arises in the fact that there are 3k people who would make a better addition.

Also, schools hold interview to make alum feel like they're contributing back to the school.

My interviewer from princeton said that the interview counts for around .5% at best

The admissions officer from my area said 1% when she called :P

They give interviews partially to give you a live source of information about their school and partially to screen out the occasional nutjob who applies.
