If my dad gets a job, will it lower my financial aid significantly?

I think your father should take the job, if he is physically capable.
He will most likely be paying into social security and may have a 401k or medical benefits.
This will also be a big boost in his self esteem.

It’s very hard to get hired after being unemployed for more than a few months. I was out of work for a few months, and have former colleagues who can’t find work.

Isn’t the real question: How much can your dad continue to lose if he does not get a job? Think about your dad’s long term future, his state of mind being unemployed, etc…I get what you are saying, bc you want to prepare yourself for your own immediate financial concerns…but your initial presentation could use some work …and hopefully your dad’s financial compensation will only increase over the many years, based on performance, if all goes well
