Should I answer "yes" to this question on the housing application? I guess I'm just afraid of the second part; I think it's perfectly fine if the "If" condition is satisfied (that my preferences are not available), but I fear that I will be placed somewhere else just for their convenience in organizing all of this :(

i did, and i dont mind. plus, you can always reject their offer. there are many options out there; from coop housing--which is really cheap and as good as dorms--to rentals and nearby apartment complexes which are as afordable as dorms. your choice, youll still have to pay. i was having doubts myself about living in the dorms, seeing how small and expensive they are compared to the other housing opions but EVERYONE told me that in the dorms is where you make long-lasting relationships so i guess i'll pay the big bucks to meet new people.

good luck with your decision.

Yeah, you can just reject the offer if you don't get something you like, and I think you only the small housing deposit. I mean, you might put something like "Unit 1 Double, Unit 2 Double, Unit 3 Double, Clark Kerr Double, Clark Kerr Triple" and they put you in a Unit 1 Triple. No big deal.
