If no likely letter, does it mean i won't make it

I was just curious since a few of my friends have gotten likely letters from varying ivy schools that whether all admitted students get a likely letter?

If I don't get one, am i still in the running?

is this a serious question?

Don’t start to doubt; I didn’t recieve a likely letter, but I’m convinced that UPenn is the place for me. Besides, I heard through-the-grape-vine that only people who applied to “not so common” majors got likely letters, correct me if I’m wrong…

Don’t worry, we all only have four days left! Then everything will be final!!!

At most schools, the majority of students admitted never get a likely letter

of course it means you won’t make it!
consider L = likely letter and A = admission

If L ->A
!A
therefore !L

Look up: Denying the antecedent (subcategory of logical fallacies)

necrophiliac…he is really stressed like all of us!! Stop kidding around!!!

Only about 200 people get likely letters from each Ivy so yes you are still in the running.

See this thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/885017-penn-sent-200-likely-letters-class-2014-applicants.html

Bottom line: the number of applicants who were sent likely letters this year (200) is equal to only 7% of the number of applicants admitted through regular decision last year.

^ true that…

dont loose hope for admissions even though you didnt get a likely letter.

I didn’t get a Likely letter, and I got in last year…

I got a likely letter to Dartmouth though, but I didn’t end up there, so yeah.

Yeah, the majority of students who are admitted don’t get likely letters, though having one would have been nice.
At Hiyo_bye, does that mean you got denied after getting a likely? Or did you just turn it down for Wharton?

I think he means that he turned it down for Wharton.
