if nothing comes in the mail today, does it mean i'm rejected?

I heard that USC(and many other colleges) sends its acceptances first and then its rejections.

Seeing how most if not all acceptances posted here were postmarked March 23rd, and it is now March 27th, things arn't looking too bright.

Granted, I live in NY but I thought the maximum time for USPS to deliver its first class mail is 3 days.

FWIW, my Californian S (should be a strong applicant) still hasn’t heard either. Plus, none of the backdoor tricks work. My hunch is that he will be admitted and that there are plenty more students who haven’t heard yet either. Don’t despair. None of us fully understands how the admissions process works.

I refuse to check my status today. I am going to wait until the mail comes.

Try to relax! Many people I know still haven’t heard yet. There are still acceptance packages being trickled in this weekend! Good luck guys!

I hope they sent out a ton of acceptances yesterday…

californiamom - I’m glad to hear you say that because my son is also a very strong candidate and hasn’t been admitted, back door doesn’t work, etc. I keep hoping for that white package, though.

Yup, azmom-- S has been accepted at UC Berkeley, Carleton, Grinnell, and some other fine schools. We were holding out hope for acceptance at USC (ideally, with merit aid), but no news yet. Maybe Monday?

The mail is crazy… You still have time… My letter was postmarked the 13th and I got it the 20th and I live in Colorado… So don’t give up hope yet!!

No envelope today. I’m still forwarded. :(

werty1992 same here forwarded since3/23 CLAS :(

Nothing here today either. :(

californiamom - we’ve only heard back from ASU where he got the top scholarship, but still waiting on the rest. Still crossing my fingers though! Good luck to your son!

AZmom, yes I suspect this all will become clear in time. If not, your S will happily go to ASU (with $) and mine to Grinnell (with $) or Berkeley or elsewhere – and we will all live happily ever after. S wanted the option of USC, but the world won’t end if he doesn’t get in to USC (though I still suspect that he will!).

Moms,
There have been two posts today of LA area students receiving fall admission. I heard from a good source admission letters will be sent out into next week.

SC has asked over and over not to pay attention to status updates and wait for a letter. Some students have received admission letters who have not had updates for weeks and weeks.

Students who constantly check updates on the computer are causing themselves much anxiety.

I am going to check with another poster to see if there is a record of when the last letter was received for fall admission in the class of 2013.

someone also recieved spring admission today

what does “backdoor” mean?

Don’t worry about it. It will only cause unneeded stress and anxiety

I highly expect to be accepted and have not received a letter to date. Im on the east coast and Ill just check my box monday. People are getting too worked up over status updates and dates. This might be difficult for some people, but just try waiting.

Yeah I am right on the same boat here I applied for USC, USF, UCLA, UC Berkley, and Stanford. I have heard nothing from any of those schools, as well as NYU on the east coast. By now like you I am going to the mail box, and freaking out when I find nothing there. I have thought of like 30 back up plans if the worst does happen, but I am not completely worried. I mean they get thousands of applications it takes a long time to go through all of them in the amount of time they have. Good luck hope you get in.

CasperCati, I don’t know about the other schools you mention, but I know for certain that both UCLA and UC Berkeley have released their freshman decisions online. Are you a transfer?

check online for the ucs
