If only I had a video camera...

Today, I'm in science class, when this really annoying girl raises her hand (keep in mind: 2 honors classes this year, never any before, pretty average, got like 150/240 on psats, just for an idea of what type of student she is) and says to my (retarded) physics teacher: I swear to God this happened, and scarily enough, I go to a "good school" or what claims to be one...

Girl: What are good schools for chemical engineering?
Teacher: MIT
Girl: What's MIT?
Teacher: Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Girl: Any others?
Teacher: lists some schools
Girl: Well, did you know that I'm an automatic in for Columbia and Bernahd (seriously worse pronunciation of what I think was Barnard-side note)
Teacher: ??
Girl: I'm a girl and I'm going to be applying for science and they like really need that so I'm definitely in. My college counselor said I definitely am.
Teacher: Yeah, I mean, you have a definite advantage, I would say at least 95% (not sarcastic. my teacher is a dumbbutt)

God. My school gives people way too high expectations and way too much ego.

I just thought you guys would appreciate that!

No my friend, you are the idiot, your teacher and her counselor are both geniuses.

Why? Consider what would have happened if they instead said "No, you won't get in, you're an asolute imbecile..."

The fact is that any logical person would do anything to not have to deal with the BS that is undoubtedly spouted by this girl everyday.

What's the problem here? i think you're mixed up...what else are they going tell her? "you cant get in, sorry, you suck."
Sure, they shouldn't heighten it up like that, but neither should you. This has no impact on you, and "she got a 150/240 on her PSAT so you can tell what type of person she is," no, i can't tell. I know some very smart people who bombed the PSAT. I, in fact, didn't get much of a higher score than that.

I think you all are misunderstanding the point of the OP's post...way to be overly critical.

Yeah, that's pretty dumb. "95%"?? A better response by the teacher/GC would be that those schools are really hard to get in to, etc.

I wasn't saying that she was "smart" or "not smart", merely that she wasn't a knockout student by any means.
