I recently self-studed for APES and got a 2. Do I really have to report this score? Or can I just not mention it since I didn’t even take the class?
I would not report it. Colleges don’t use AP scores for admissions really…they use it for credit or placement.
Don’t report it at all. And avoid universities that require reporting all scores.
In addition, self study doesn’t add to your application - colleges want you in classwork participating, along questions, taking tests.
How many other AP tests did you take? There’s a “bite more than you can chew” AP trend of students taking too many APs, thus too many tests, being unable to study properly for each, getting exhausted and scoring poorly on all.
You really should take a maximum of 4 AP classes (and tests) a year.
Alright thanks! I was just hoping to get more units for college. But yeah I’m sticking to 4 AP classes. I don’t really want to push it any further than that.
If you took an AP Class (so it appears on the transcript unlike OP), can you choose to not self report it? I know you can, but will colleges look at it suspiciously and assume you got a 1 or will they honestly not notice it or not care?
The general rule of thumb is to self report only scores of 4 and 5. If you don’t report, it won’t hurt you. Yes, you may have done poorly but you also may not have taken the exam. The AO will not know which it was.
