If siblings have gone to the college you're applying to, is that good for you??

My brother graduated at GMU about 2 years ago and my sister is going there right now. I heard that, that increases my chance a little bit about getting in. Does it? Or is it just a myth?

it does... i think.. its like having your parennts or gparents gone there.. its like a legacy hook or summat

Usually, the impact is NOT as strong as legacy parents. And in some schools it's a very small consideration. But there are colleges that do count it strongly. Something to ask the adcoms.

or just apply and see how it fares... iut can never tip the balance of bad grades.. but if you are on the fence or in contention aand have the stats, thyen its trhe extra push in

i know someone whose oldest sister got into harvard and he got in 2 years later.... if that helps. dont know the answer though.

If your sibling is a star, you probably get a lot more interest. If your sibling is just one of the herd, you probably don't get much special attention.

On the other hand, I know someone whose sibling was an athlete at a top Catholic college, but the school rejected the younger sibling.
