If someone had 0 knowledge of TV/movies, would you lose respect for them?

Just wondering.

Yes.

No I’d probably just sit them down ad we’d watch mean girls, the o.c. (making sure to fast forward over anytime that mischa barton speaks) and a marathon of jersey shore. They’d be good.

No, I wouldn’t.

Kinda…well actually not really! I have friends who don’t watch TV like at all! Actually I gain respect for them, because I wish I was never introduced to the evil we call TV entertainment

I’ve never watched much television at all. I don’t think people look down on me for that.

^ Yeah, that.

The only show I’ve ever followed is Jeopardy! and people joke that I’ve only seen four movies.

maybe…

Jeopardy! is the best show ever… aand I’m beast at it. nbd

Since my school isn’t big on academics, pop culture knowledge is pretty important. Luckily, I got a good crash course in it pretty quickly.

Not at all. I might even respect the person even more.

maybe. as long as we can talk about something else, like books, I wouldn’t.

NOPE.

If I said yes to that question, that would mean I would not respect all the indigenous people, some poor North Koreans or Somalians, and other people, which would be extremely shallow.

ohmagod

double post.

Nope, not at all…

I don’t watch TV except for Psych, White Collar, and sometimes House.
I love movies…! I don’t go to the movie theater often though :/

No… because I don’t watch much.

I refuse to watch the **** on MTV, VH1, and BET.

often not watching TV/movies is a form of cultural elitism. This attitude is seen very prominently in the post directly above mine. When I perceive that this is the case (versus them not having a TV growing up or they are too busy doing other things) I definitely lose respect for them.

not watching TV is a choice, not cultural elitism. Especially when some of the media have seemed to dumbed down the American culture. . .

^???

Yes, it is a choice that often corresponds to a form of cultural elitism.

I only watch Science channel, NatGeo, and anything with Gordon Ramsey.

He’s my hero.

i dont get it. . . .how does it relate to cultural elitism? just wondering.
