If someone replies to a thread you already replied in - do you always check back on that same thread for replies?

I seem to notice that most people do this a lot. Whenever I quote someone in a thread that the person doesn't intend to debate in - the person almost always comes back and responds to that quote. It's almost as if you want to ask someone a question - you just ask the person the question on that thread - even if the person really shouldn't have a reason to look at the thread again. Even if the person isn't posting a particularly constructive reply on that thread

On a side note - one has to distinguish between (a) the threads one has already replied in (most of those threads are the threads that one has interest in) and (b) the threads one has interest in but that one hasn't replied in

Of course, unless it's on the College Confidential Cafe board, where all the posts are pointless anyway. Re-replying is a good way to to increase your post count fast. I even bump other people's threads for them. :)

now that I only post in the cafe, rechecking threads has become useless. But to gain posts, I'm just bumping threads outside the cafe by writing something barely related to the topic.

If I make a comment that I found to be "response worthy" or could have provoked debate, I'll go back and see what others have posted. In a chances thread or one of a more generic nature; however, I just make my comment and leave.

I check back on pretty much every one I post on because I like to see what other people say about whatever's on there...and so if someone does call me out on something, I can respond. I guess I view them as discussions more than, "Here's what I think. K, thanks. Bye," type things.
