Our guys started focusing on beating MSU in the locker room after the IU game. They will take the physical game to MSU and not back away.

"Senior defensive tackle Patrick Butrym, a leader on the field and in the locker room, suffered a sprained left ankle with 9 minutes 56 seconds left in the first half and did not return.

Butrym was wearing a walking boot and was using crutches afterward.

“It was a low ankle sprain, nothing high,” Bielema said. “They feel he will be back sooner or later.”

According to several players, Butrym gave a forceful postgame speech in the locker room to turn the focus to Michigan State. The Spartans handed UW its only Big Ten loss last season.

Jordan Kohout filled in for Butrym and was credited with two tackles. If Butrym is unable to play at Michigan State, the top three tackles will be Kohout, Ethan Hemer and Beau Allen. The fourth tackle likely would be Eriks Briedis.

“Patrick is a great player and a great leader,” Kohout said. “Hopefully he gets back as soon as possible. But Hemer, Beau and I are all ready to play to the best of our ability.”

Blah, you say Michigan football fans are arrogant? Are we the ones going to the Stanford forum and talking trash? You came into our forum and launched an unprovoked attack. Since when does defending one’s team qualify as “arrogance”. If anything, all of the regular posters on this forum praise Stanford and rate it as the best university in the nation. I doubt you would come close to giving Michigan that kind of respect. I wonder who’s arrogant.

And I have been following recruitment activity closely this season. According to Rivals.com, Stanford has so far received 15 verbal commits, none of which is ***** and only 5 of which are *. The average rating of Stanford’s commits is 3.3. Michigan has 23 verbal commits, none of which are and 11 of which are ****. The average rating of Michigan’s commits is 3.5.

Finally, USC is not a good team this year. They barely beat Minnesota 19-17. Minnesota is by no means a bad team, but Michigan beat them 56-0. UDub is a good team.

and another lol for the Stanford fan thinking they are god’s gift to earth in football hahaha. Even playing the academics card like we do to the SEC. Man, you guys are just too full of yourselves. You need another decade of losing seasons.

Last year, a five star recruit at my school, verbally committed to Michigan, but realized their future is crap. Then, he changed his mind and went to Alabama.

Stanford is currently ranked 8th in the BCS rankings, while Michigan is 18th. Andrew Luck is the consensus number one pick for the NFL draft, while Denard Robinson will be lucky to even get drafted. Stanford is astronomically superior to Michigan’s academics.

And if Stanford played Michigan right now, in Ann Arbor since you guys are terrible any where else, Andrew Luck would have a field day. He could easily throw for 500 yards, while Denard would throw for a lackluster 50 yards. Face it, Denard Robinson is not the answer for your QB problems. He has poor throwing technique he doesn’t plant his feet, turn his hips toward the receiver, and makes poor reads. He is just plain terrible. Michigan is plain terrible; you guys have lost to your rival, MSU, FOUR YEARS IN A ROW! That’s just pathetic.

Aren’t mods on this forum supposed to be setting an example? Yet, Alexandre is cursing in her previous post, how classy.

“Last year, a five star recruit at my school, verbally committed to Michigan, but realized their future is crap. Then, he changed his mind and went to Alabama.”

He went to Alabama because he wanted to major in football. Nothing wrong with that. Alabama is on top right now.

“Aren’t mods on this forum supposed to be setting an example? Yet, Alexandre is cursing in her previous post, how classy.”

Alexandre is a man’s name oh brilliant one. I won’t even bother to comment on the ***** issue since it’s quite obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about.

StanfordKid, I am not sure how it’s done in Palo Alto, but in Ann Arbor, ***** means 5 stars and **** means 4 stars and a *** Michelin restaurant rocks!

Alexandre, are you naive enough to think Stanford’s recruiting has ended today? Unlike other schools, they have academic standards for their recruits and are deciding whether or not to accept some of these recruits as we speak. Stanford in the past has rejected some top recruits (see recruit Louis Young who verbaled to Stanford before getting rejected and then went to Georgia Tech). On the other hand, there have been only 2 recruits who were accepted that turned down Stanford in the last 8 years (one went to Oregon State and another to UCLA). That is why the “don’t count your chickens before they are hatched argument” won’t hold water in this case.

Stanford will have several 5 star recruits (either by rivals.com or scout.com) by the end of this year. Several 5 star recruits (per scout.com or rivals.com) have submitted applications (required test scores with essays) to Stanford and will commit IF ACCEPTED. Unlike other schools, prospects who take the time to submit an app are more serious than if they were to make a verbal pledge that is sometimes switched soon after to a another school. Applicants who have submitted apps include:

Aziz Shitu (once a verbal but now waiting on his application status). (DE)-borderline admit

Joshua Garnett (OL with an outstanding academic record)

Kyle Murphy (OL with an outstanding academic record)

Andrus Peat-Strong academic candidate

Addtionally Noor Davis (an admitted commit) might become a 5 star(either by scout.com or rivals.com before it’s all said and done). Ifeadi Odenigbo is another likely commit pending his application status (potential 5 star as well).

So keep it up. 5 stars is 5 stars. You’ll see soon enough.

Michigan had top 10 classes for years before then. Guess we all know how that turned out.

Good job citing Michigan at #3 in recruiting for 2012 btw. That’s some Great Logic there. You know, since since the year is over for recruiting by October. We’ll see who is laughing once the mega recruits have committed. When they do, Michigan’s rank with a large number of ok but not elite recruits will drop like a rock.

Keep continuing the unfounded trash talking.

Just want to say the two posters in this thread are not indicative of the students at Stanford (not that anyone was questioning that). I have 2 family members that went there, and they’re two of the most humble people I’ve met. It’s a shame that people from one of (if not the single) best universities in the world feel the need to talk down to others.

Don’t even pretend there isn’t Michigan arrogance. Some of these posters often take their arguments to the open board. Regardless, my comment “wish you were like us in academics and football” was meant to be tongue in cheek (I forgot the wink). Despite our bantering, I will give credit where it’s due. If Stanford can achieve half of Michigan football’s historical success at any point in the next century, I’d be ecstatic.

Blah, honestly, I have not seen Michigan arrogance, unless you think that defending your school qualifies as arrogance. Personally, I think Michigan students and alums have a great deal of passion and pride for their school, but that does not mean they are arrogant. Regulars on thos board do not go to other university forums and talk trash and they do not disrespect other universities. From that point of view, I would have to beg to differ with your assessment.
