If this is true, would it be illegal?

Someone made a fake facebook. It has two pictures of some random kid and a made up name. This person is in some random network's class of '13, but was born '93 (January 1st, at that), so I'd say its safe to say its fake.

Anyways, this person added a lot of kids from my school. People accept these requests from people they dont know, Idk why (I did not). There's been this rumor that its a dean at my school. Would this be illegal?

We were planning to all wear the same color uniform shirt (private school- like 6 choices of shirts to wear) just to weird out the teachers. It was a facebook event and almost half the school was "attending" with thousands more "waiting" so we knew it would work. Anyway, yesterday the dean (the one we think made this fake facebook) comes on the intercom and at the end of his announcement goes, "And I suggest you wear the red polo tomorrow" (he calls the shirts 'golf shirts' so that adds suspicion that he called it polos) So yea, this dean found out even though everyone was silent about it ***! he ruined it lol no one did the 'wear read' today -.-

Oh and some kid during homeroom supposedly got a detention slip signed by the fake facebook person's name instead of the dean's. I doubt this but thats hilarious

ANYWAY, that was my story for the week. (if this is even true) Would it be illegal for a dean to make a fake facebook and add students?

No, because some bodies like the NFL do the same. However, if he chose a live person, with an identity, then there is an issue.

How would this be illegal?

People routinely make fake facebook accounts. It may be against facebook’s TOS (not sure) but I can not possibly think of any law that would make this illegal. People are just dumb for adding someone they don’t know.

I agree with both of the responses. Nothing is wrong with making a fake account, as long as he doesnt steal someone else’s identity/uses it without permission.

Although I wouldnt know why he would add so many from the student body. Maybe hes a perv and wants to look at steamy pictures of hot high school girls? then that can potentially be a problem

He probably shouldn’t be using a picture of a random kid and impersonating him/her.

But other than that, I don’t see anything illegal about this.

do you live in ATL? There was this stupid thing where like 20 different fake accounts were going around the private schools and APS.

Its not illegal. Nothing can happen unless you cyberbully.

I don’t think it’s illegal, but it’s sort of pathetic for a dean to do that. Also a little disturbing. You would think that as a dean, the person has something better to do with his life than stalking kids on facebook.

Can’t you go up to him one day and just say, “um hey, I know this person on facebook that sounds exactly like you. Do you know someone that—?”

“You will not use Facebook to do anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory.”

“You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.”

both deans in my school, one male and one female, did the same exact thing

No. This guy sure is Buzz Killington.
