Extra Information:
My high school does not rank as it is highly competitive.

If I fall apart, what are my chances for...

American
Brandeis
George Washington
Tufts
Pittsburgh
Rochester (Maybe ED)
Muhlenberg

We're in Lower Merion, right ourside philly. We actually go to rival schools :P

Oh, and Alex you'll be fine. Tufts might be hard for ya. URoch ED will be fine too.

My school doesn't rank.

I figured Tufts would be a sizeable reach, but I haven't even SEEN the school, lol...

Anyone else?

Bumpity Bumpity!

Thank god we dont rank :P

Tufts is a reach with a slighter better chance with ED.
U of Rochester - visit, interview, order video, write a good why Rochester essay & attend a local session. Your chances are good although your grades are a bit low. If you apply ED, Rochester is a strong match.

GWU is more competitive than most people believe but might be a match for you.

American - you are in
Muhlenberg is a good school! & a match

Depending upon your interests, you have a good selction of schools.

Rochester - Visit? Check. Local Session? Check. Interview? To be completed in the summer...

Are you sure about Muhlenberg as a match? It was kind of my desperate safety...SAT is 1130-1330 (I'm 1390) and I have that music hook.

Yeah dude. Muhl is a safe for ya :)

That list of honors classes is impressive, but the UW GPA at 3.14 leaves a lot to be desired--especially given the slightly downward trend. Muhlenberg as a safety makes sense, but I'd go easier on the ECs and try to get the GPA up the end of this year or first semester next year. You're going to need an UW GPA around 3.25 to 3.3 to realistically have a shot at some of these schools, like GW, Pitt and Rochester--plus the essay is going to have to shine.

Good luck

My UW GPA will most likely be a 3.37, not as low as a 3.14. That C in Physics will most likely be a B, and I will most likely get As in Stat and Spanish. I simply created this thread JUST IN CASE. Although my GPA will probably be MUCH BETTER, I just want to see if I still have a chance at some decent schools.

U sure Pitt would be a reach if I fell down? They use weighted GPA, correct? And I'm in-state...

...Not to mention their 75th %ile SAT is 1330 and I have 1390 (M + CR)...

Youd have no problem at Pitt.

Anyone else?

Bump...PLEASE!

Are you a sophomore, or are you a junior?

If you're a sophomore why are you planning to take a class that you think you're going to get a C in???!?!?!?!

But you'll be ok...someone got into Rice with a D.....:)

He's a junior.

The thing to remember with places like Univ of Pittsburgh is that you can't just go by averages at certain schools. Let me give a couple of examples: At Indiana Univ the average SAT is only like 1189, but the average business student is at 1314. At NYU, the average SAT is like 1310, but the average business student at Stern has a SAT score of about 1420.

The same applies to Univ of Pittsburgh. If you plan to go into philosophy or a regular liberal arts major, 1330-1360 with a decent 3.15 will get you in--but if you plan to go into their business school, engineering school, pre-med, pre-law, etc. you will need a minimum of around 1390-1400 SAT and a 3.25 to 3.3 GPA UW to get in IMHO. I'm making a few presumptions here about your major obviously, but I'd rather be wrong on the high side (meaning you have to work harder) than on the low side (telling you it's a lock).

Sorry, I see I missed your post on your UW GPA being about 3.37 really, not 3.14. In that case, with a 1390 SAT, Pitt should be a match.

Political Science / Pre-Law is my intended major...
