That is, BOTH electronic and hard copy paper. I'm certain that they would have my electronic components that I submitted last year but I was wondering if they would also keep the paper components. There was a paper I sent in of grave importance and I needed to know if they have it or not. If they do, there's no reason for me to send one again this year but if they didn't, I would have to go through the trouble of finding a replica of it or completing one from scratch and sending it again?

You may want to contact the admissions office of that specific school. I’ve never heard of keeping the actual application, but transcripts and test scores are sometimes kept on file for a year.

Unless you’re talking about a specific school, I’m not sure how you can be sure that they have your previous electronic application on file. Many colleges do not retain applications from the previous years, regardless of whether they’re electronic or paper.

i was talking about penn, duke, wustl, and cornell. do they really not even have my electronic app? i thought they would, cause they asked if i applied before

What do you mean a paper of grave importance? Call the schools and find out if they have it. No one here can tell you.

You need to call/email each school, they vary in their practices; the majority of D1s made her send everything again although some kept test scores. Some keep applications, others toss them, others keep if you ask them to after spring decisions. All schools ask if you applied before, but that doesn’t mean they kept your application.

Thank you for the responses everybody.
I’ll probably end up just calling each school to clarify it. I don’t want to risk not sending it if they didn’t have it after all.
