If you are a fan of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

The honeypot scene was not what it was in the book…or rather, his reaction wasn’t as strong. I guess there’s just not time for everything…

^^^It’s been so long since I read the book, I can’t really remember that scene very well. I was thinking that he was more appalled by it than turned on.

Damn, now I’m going to have to go re-read that.

I think the hit of the show this season are the clothes. I thought they did a good job with the first episode given the timing of the book…however I did think it was a little ho-hum. The 2nd episode picked up was just too gratuitous for my tastes. Theybjustbkept throwing in shock after shock factor. The Kings bowels was riciculous how they drug it out. I didn’t think it was the least bit funny watching his face strain or his attendant looking in the toilet. His mistress dress was a shocker and really all they needed for the episode. I thought the waxing part was hilarious and she was great! My favorite part of the show. Jamievis still just too pretty for my tastes and I miss sarcastic Claire. I guess it’s a nude enough adaptation but falls a little short for me. I am looking forward to being introduced to the other characters. I have to say I never enjoyed them much in Paris.

In the book, Claire didn’t get a bikini wax but did do her armpits which Jamie found shocking. When Claire told him about Louise’s bikini wax he was even more shocked that a woman would want to look like a “wee lassie.”

Yeah the clothes get a lot of attention…IMO too much. Costumes are not supposed to BE the story  I agree the king dressing thing went on a bit long. The Mary Hawkins/Alex part was fine.

…and I agree, this was not a favorite book in the series, so the season has that (not) going for it.

Episode 3 MUCH better! I will not do spoilers.

(A side benefit of Starz via Prime is the show is available early)

Oh goodie! Thanks for telling us! I normally don’t watch it until Sunday, so now I’m happy!

I do think they could move a bit faster. Everyone knows the history, not a spoiler to say that Scotland doesn’t win independence. The political intrigue - will the prince get the money or won’t he - just not much suspense, get on with it!

I agree, the narrative is bleh this season. Just watching now for the Prague location. It was nice to see the Clementinum (featured in the chess scene)

I hate to say it but I thought it was boring and kept falling asleep. No great connection between J&C. I also don’t think Sam is that talented. He does not bring Jamie to life for me.

I watched episode 4 last night. I thought it was a little better than episode 3, but some of the dialogue from the book sound embarrassingly ick said outloud, though romantic when read. If you didn’t know the story, some things just wouldn’t make sense, so far I give Season 1 a 4 out of 5 stars…this Season a 1.5.

The plotting is ridiculous. Really…super-smart Claire leaves a teenage rape victim to regain consciousness alone in a room with a man she hardly knows? Who happens to be the brother of a known sadist?

Just watched eipsode 3.There was no need to taste the urine. The symptoms were all there, and there is no cure in the 1740s.

Just sayin’…

When I see stuff like that, I’ll say, “Oh, that would never happen! Claire is too smart for that.” DH will lean in and say “Yet you accept that she touched a big rock and went back in time 200 years.”

I kind of miss watching the first half of season one when I had no idea what was going to happen next.

I thought ep 4 was the best one so far this season.

Caitriona Balfe’s performance last night was one of the best I have ever seen. Really heart wrenching.

Just spent most of Money Monster thinking 'Who is the actress Ho plays Diane? ’ Pretty much everyone in that film is A list Hollywood or solid/well known, and then finally… OMG it’s Catriona Balfe!

@MYOS1634, did you enjoy Money Monster?

whoopps, typo - *who, not HO! :frowning:
Anyway, yes I enjoyed the film a lot.
It took me quite a while to recognize Catriona Balfe, in part because she’s rather new and everyone else is a veteran of the silver screen. She has an important role - Jodie Foster has a good eye.
Do you know if she wears a wig for Outlander?
Not up to Episode 4 yet but will look forward to her performance.

I thought this was the best episode this season. I have been wary with each one as I think they’ve been boring. She is a good actress.
