And obviously you have to make a decision in the next week and won't find out about a waitlist until mid to end-May...how do you switch your decision?

How long does it take colleges to inform students about waitlist decisions ( after May 1st)?

Do you still have to pay the deposit?

I'm curious about this as well...any answers?

i know certain schools i.e. washu says by june 30th you'll know.

yeah, you pay the deposit for the college you have been accepted to by may 1st.

how do you switch your decision? you tell the school you payed your deposit to that you will not be attending, but you lose the deposit unless it is refundable which is highly doubtful

How long does it take colleges to inform students about waitlist decisions ( after May 1st)?
depends on the college. if they are accepting a small class, they should get through the first round decisions pretty quickly. if the entering class is big, then it might take a little longer.

you have to lose the deposit? how much are the deposits usually?

depends on the college. i know some places it's like $300, but others it's like $650. it all goes towards your classes if you decide to attend.

usually private school deposits are bigger

ok. i thought it was more like in the thousands or something so that is a relief.

Williams waitlist decisions are around 7th of may
