So my school county ends 1st semester like end of January/beginning of February and I know most regular decisions are due by January 1, so do my first semester senior grades still get added into my cumulative even though the semester hasn’t ended or is it just freshman through junior yr grades?
No, your first semester grades will not be included in your cumulative GPA. Colleges will ask that a mid-year report be sent to them once it is finalized.
Varies:
- If applying early action or early decision to a college (for which admisison decisons are usually made about mid-December), majority will use only grades through junior year to make admission decisions but some require your mid-semester grades for first semester senior year and consider those. If admitted EA or ED, some of those require you to submit a mid-year report with your first semester grades, which will then be considered to determine whether your admission should be withdrawn.
- If applying regular admission, you typically do not submit mid-semester grades. Many colleges do not even want first semester grades after you get them but instead make admission decisons based on grades through junior year. Just as many require a mid-year report after you have applied that reports your grades for first semester senior year and those are considered along with other grades to determine admission.
And note, that regardless of what a college requires to initially determine your admission, you can have your admisison withdrawn after you complete high school if final transcript shows poor grades senior year.
