If you are below the 50% gpa range....

how likely is it that you will get rejected? I am applying to Purdue University (It already has been done, so you can't change my mind). I am in the 2.5-2.99 range, I have a gpa of 2.73...

It is said that 8% of the people of 2.5-2.99 range have gotten accepted into Purdue University and 1% of the people with a 2.0-2.5 range have gotten accepted.

Are my chances really low, or just not as likely as those in the 50% range?

[Common Data Set - Purdue University](http://www.purdue.edu/OIR/CDS_Post/cds09_c.htm)
^here’s the link to Purdue’s common data set

Your ACT is below their 25th percentile. Only 8% of accepted students fell into your GPA range.

Your chance of being accepted is slim at best because both your ACT and GPA are low (based on their CDS).

Make sure you apply to a few safety schools.

Don’t be mad at me. Your GPA and your ACT are too low for Purdue. In short, your chance of acceptance is slim at best. The facts are clearly spelled out in the link to their Common Data Set.

Maybe you will understand it this way-----Don’t hold your breath waiting for an acceptance to Purdue. Apply to some safety schools.

Do you understand the problem? It’s not just your GPA that’s the problem. Your ACT is very low.

You will most likely be rejected. Is that clear enough?

No one can give you a specific percentage rate of your possible chance of acceptance.

It’s not like you’re lacking in one area. Both your GPA and ACT are low for Purdue.

^here’s their freshman profile.

Overall average high school class rank: Top 18%
Middle 50% high school GPA range: 3.3-3.9
Middle 50% SAT range: 1530-1900
Middle 50% ACT composite range: 23-29

@OP: Why were you being rude to nysmile? (S)he clearly responded to your question clearly. You chances are indeed low and far below those of applicants who are within the 50% range of ACT and GPA.

In direct response to the question you initially posed–your chances are really low.

Here’s a smile  and a virtual hug to brighten your day!

The people who have responded to your post have a collective 3000 posts here. Do you suppose there is a chance–however small, given your impeccable grade point average–that perhaps your question is poorly worded?

Let me be clear. You chances for getting into Purdue are very low. You are more likely to be rejected than accepted. The best hope you have of getting in are if you have some special skill or attribute that makes them overlook your poor grades.

You can lash out at me all you want. You can externally project your disappointment all you want. It may make you feel better, but the reality of graduating HS with a sub-3.0 grade point average is that your options are limited.

No doubt my Ph.D. students think so.

I like how you said:

and then said:

I would love to hear what do you mean by “answering the question properly.”

Apparently people who give you accurate predictions are dicks.

Newsflash: Giving you a prediction based on the information you provided us with does not constitute the responder as being a dick. No one here has any bad intentions. You, on the other hard, are severely overreacting, rude, and childish.

Yea that totally makes sense. I like how you had to leave a message for me and instead of being grateful, insulted everyone who gave you an honest opinion.

So, when will the moderators arrive at this thread?

@ OP: What wrongs with you? Every time you post on here, you act like a jerk. Cool it dude. Face the facts and grow up. Obviously you made this post so someone could reply and say “you have a good chance at purdue” but im sorry, you don’t. GPA and SAT/ACT are the main admissions factors at Purdue. And,

^No, im pretty sure thats you.
Good luck in life, im sure that you’ll need it.

OP, if Purdue is your dream, consider applying to the satellites, like Purdue Calumet. You have a better chance of getting in and, assuming that you are truly smarter and more motivated than your grades and test scores indicate, you can apply for transfer. Best of luck.

hahhhhaahah, this idiot ^ did exactly the same thing in the purdue subforum earlier. i suggest you guys just ignore him.

■■■■■ is ■■■■■

Guys, get the de-■■■■■■■■ powder!

DFTFT 10char

This Diesel kid is actually pretty funny because he’s so pathetic. I’m not sure if he’s a ■■■■■ or just a kid who needs a serious whooping. I think its the second one. :)

to make you feel better, I know someone with a 21 act that got into Notre Dame.

Football-----9/04/10 Notre Dame 23 Purdue 12, Notre Dame > Purdue

Your chance of acceptance is fair and rejection is unlikely. You have hope.

Now that you’ve heard what you want to hear (albeit what I said is false), will you leave everyone who has been truthful to you alone?
