^dude you either didn’t actually study it, or you have terrible terrible memory.

and no. dont worry about history either.

@Ilikeyou

Really? Seriously? If you’re joking, I swear to god…

@viktorialucas

TATA box–don’t remember, mental note to go review… Bottleneck theory explains a change in allele frequency in a population, it’s when some random event occurs that severely decimates the population.

Lamarck came up with the idea that acquired characteristics can be passed on to offspring.

As for history, I dunno. I’ve never taken it. :)

Haha Lamarck. He thought that acquired characteristics were passed down to offspring. For example, he theorized that giraffes had long necks because they were always stretching them. Needless to say, although a decent theory for his time, he was wrong.

The TATA box I think has something to do with restriction enzymes.

lol guys tata is one of most basic concepts of eukaryotic molecular genetics. it is where transcription factors bind/rna polymerase in the promoter.

Let’s just say that history is not covered too frequently in the exam… =)

Dude, chill. Not everyone has as good of a memory as you apparently do.

of course i know that.
my problem is i cant like spit them out, you know what i mean?

sample situation:

IDEAL SITUATION:
yeah man, connect it to genetic drift man allele frequency in a population sudden change man yeah and also add about peppered moths man yeah and also sketch the graph for it man…

THATS WHAT I WANT.

and for tata box, i want to spit out like yeah girls its the promoter region also prokaryotes and eukaryotes yeah added by three or more adenine bases yeah girls thats how i kick it.

Not like, well…s a DNA sequence (cis-regulatory element) found in the promoter region of genes in archaea it is a binding site for histones.
Thats not enough for me.

See, I got a 74 on multiple choice and 6 out of 9 for all the FRQs, but i got a D+ on my exam.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!
may the 4th be with you.
(i hope the exam date would have been the 4th, lolll

I have never come across this information in my life.

Let the freaking out cycle begin again…

^no problem lol. just remember tata box is in promoter region and is binding site.

I took the test last year, and it was super easy. Chances are, CB is cooking up a storm for this year’s AP test. Good luck! =)

hey sciencefrechie, you seem intersting.
which colleges are you applying too?

Oh goodie. And commence the freaking out once again!..

First of all, um, thank you? Second, not really sure yet. OSU (for a financial safety), Rice, Emory, UNC Chapel Hill, and UMichigan are the only ones that I have pretty much nailed down. I’ve basically considered the majority of colleges (both unis + LACs) east of the Mississippi River. Nothing’s set in stone, though (except OSU). You?

I am SO Nervous. I crammed for APUSH the night before, and I was pretty confident with it (75%-80% confident).

Tomorrow, waking up at 8, cramming till 12, and repeating on Sunday.

BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE:)

I really hate biology now…
I really have to review photosynthesis and respiration, and also genetics and how to write essays…

@Circular: They really aren’t ‘essays’. Just write down what you know in an easy to follow manner and you should be fine.

Tomorrow, waking up at 8, cramming till 12, and repeating on Sunday.

^ This sounds just like my plan. :)

i feel like im going to fail. badly too. =[

I think I’m gonna be stuck in this perpetual freaking out cycle till July. I remember after APUSH last year, I was seriously in post-depression mode for 2 weeks.

I scored a 5 on the mock AP - but that doesn’t make me feel confident at all. (We only covered 50% of the course in my class, but I have been trying hard to learn the other 50% - it’s not easy given the very little time I had.)

My concern: what if they put something completely unexpected or a topic that I clearly don’t know as the FRQ that I can’t even effectively BS? I always feel like CollegeBoard gonna surprise us, especially since they are modifying the course for next year (* knocks on wood*)

Anyway, I’m gonna trap myself in the library tomorrow and Sunday. Hooray for massive death cramming.
