That’s not much of a post, and there is already a thread on this somewhere.

Pomona is hardly mentioned. Do you even know the difference between the 5C colleges? Most of this article is about Pitzer, too, which is separate from CMC. I’m not saying there is nothing to see at CMC about this… but there were tons of articles about the CMC issues last year prior to this Pitzer incident. Google those if you want to know what is going on at CMC. The Pitzer incident is separate (separate admissions, separate students, separate grad requirements, separate campus, etc).

No I don’t know the differences between all the 5C colleges and I don’t think I have to be an expert to post. That is the point. The article was written in the Claremont Independent and is a relevant story for anyone thinking of attending one of these schools, as it might affect any potential applicant. If it really does not affect anyone going to Pomona or CM, as you say, people might want to know and understand that. While Pitzer might be separate in many ways from Pomona, the schools are always mentioned together, at least when it comes to athletics. Also, while there might be a thread about it somewhere else, I personally looked in both the Pomona and CM forums and did not see anything, which surprised me.

That’s because this thread could have been titled, “If you are thinking of applying to a lot of colleges.” The issues underlying this particular set of circumstances have been the subject of discussion/debate/demonstrations on campuses across the country for a couple of years. I would hope that those thinking of applying to one of the 5Cs or any of their academic peers expect that, if admitted, they will find many opportunities to engage in lively and challenging discussions regarding important issues.

“Also, while there might be a thread about it somewhere else, I personally looked in both the Pomona and CM forums and did not see anything, which surprised me.”

I’m not surprised by that at all. The schools are, in fact, distinct entities, though they share the consortium heart.

Have you walked Pomona? Trust me, the schools are not the same, and have distinct concerns surrounding, and central to, their respective communities and living situations.

@jonkras
Being an expert isn’t necessary, but it appears you have practically no knowledge of the schools.

jonkras can you explain clearly the point of starting this thread? Three of the Claremont Schools are among the best in the country and two are the most selective LAC’s.
