Check out the percentile ranks for your SAT II subject test in this table: http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/about/news_info/cbsenior/yr2003/pdf/table_12.pdf

While they are only percentiles, they might give you a better idea of where you fall and whether or not you should retake.

bump because I'm sure fifty more "What's my percentile" or "Is this good" threads will pop up if this disappears.

I think that this is an old one.... but i'm not sure if it matters

ouch, some of those percentiles are really harsh.

It is an older one, but it's the newest they currently have.

Under which percentile should we retake? 95%?

That's up to you. The chart is just a reference tool. Think about how much you know about those subjects, where you think you should be, and whether or not you can be in a certain percentile, then decide.

No because 790 on Math IIC is 87% and I wouldn't retake that.

Only Retake It If U Know U Can Do Better

I'm really sorry but how exactly do you read that..?

For example what does the 99 for both 800 and 790 mean for the Eng Lit?

Thanks.. and sorry for the "dumb" question.

99th percentile meaning out of all the kids that took the test if u scored an 800 or 790 u beat 99% of them

Essentially, multiple score with 99 means that scores from the lowest one with 99 to the highest with 99 are all in the 99th percentile. So, in your example, those scoring 790 and 800 were all in the 99th percentile.

And 99+ means upper 99th percentile.

Keep in mind that these percentiles are realitive to students who are stong enough students to take SAT IIs and students who are strong enough to take the SAT II in that subject (if you are really bad at history, would you take a history SATII? Probably not.). This is espcaillay true, my IIC 750 is 74 percentile, but 74th of students who are strong enough at math to take the IIC (I am 95th on SAT I math).

Thanks... wow the chinese "curb" is killer... I guess thats because it's mainly native speakers... but still.

what score range on the SATII corresponds to a 5 on the AP, would you think?

750+?

It's hard to say since the formats are somewhat different.

yea. i wonder whether percentiles would be a good indicator, about 15% scoring 5's on the AP versus scoring in the 85+ percentile on an SAT II. But you're right, the formats are so different....
it would be interesting to survey people on their SAT and corresponding AP scores...Has it already been done somewhere on this forum?

ic is much less harch than iic wow!

and half of the chinese sats were perfect scores! i fell bad for the average white kid who decided to take it

For IC, the curve is more difficult than that for IIC, and the people who take it aren't as good in math, else they probably would have taken the IIC.

bump for same reason as before.
