If you attend a high school without a minus system...

How exactly is an A converted into the 4.0 scale? From what I undertand, in a normal school, it works as follows:

A+/A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3
B- = 2.7
(And so on)

I guess my real question is, if you attend a school that does not use a minus system, does an A equal a 3.7 or is it still a 4.0? If the colleges know that your school doesn't use a minus system, will As count significantly less than A+s?

Any constructive input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The high school my sons attended had a straight 4.0 system with no weighting. An A+, A, or A- was worth 4 points. A B+, B or B- was worth 3 points, etc.

An "A" is a 4.0 (if your school has no minus system). They won't view it any differently as an A+ in another school, because colleges realize that schools have different grading systems. This is where they factor in class rank.

Ahh I see....this just made my day : )
