if you can pay you can go

Hi everyone, just thought I’d mention something deerhotch seemed to have overlooked -
none of this financial aid would even be possible without those full-pay applicants (and rich alumni). All of us less well-off applicants should be thankful - these people pay our financial aid

That said, maybe we can move on to a less tense topic? By the way, Tom TheCat, what does crass mean?

@futureboarder it means “lacking sensitivity, refinement, or intelligence”

Thanks putnamehere :)

its funny because i dont get what you ppl are trying to defend? prep school is a business and money talks, therefore if your a full blow applicant the school will do whatever it take to accept you and make you come. and if none of you know were in a recession right now, we just went thru an economic meltdown. plain and simple full blow applicants can easily get into bs no matter which way you look at it, full blow applicants just look better they have more ec’s, they can afford to volunteer in other countries and there parents can pay for organized sports, and there parents have the money to send them to a good private school since kindergarden so its not just being able to pay full tuition, its also that there stats are alot better as appose to the kid who has been bussing dishes since grade 8 just to be able to play soccer. Tomthecat comes from a legacey perspective so he dosnt know whats its like to actually work hard to get accepted. the only reason why hades schools have such low acceptance rates is because nobody can afford to go, and most of the kids who apply are FA applicants and they dont get in. i dont get how ppl on here think hades schools are actually hard to get in? the only reason why the acceptance rates are low is because nobody in this country has money to spend on privates high schools let alone even university, and lots of fa applicants apply and hades just rejects them. botton line if your rich and have connections hades is very very easy to get into ask any full blow students they will set it straight

haha deerhotch you really have no clue what you’re talking about do you? What is this about “full blow” students getting in with only 3.3-3.5 gpa? I believe you’re the one who said that. Any stats to back that up or are you just spitting out senseless words?

Deerhotch, why are you validating your schools’ choice to turn down your application? If they could read your posts, know what they’d say? “We made the right choice.”

sorry tom your just not as “special” as you thought you were, andovers 14 percent acceptance rate only applys to non legacies and fa applicants. stop trying to be the spokes person for andover and quit bashing kids on CC who didnt get into prep school ok maybe i should send andover some of your posts and so them how impolite and rude you are online and show them how you harrass kids who never got into prep school thurston

Tom… just let it go. There is no getting through to this guy. Just let him think what he wants.

@deerhotch, that’s not harrassment. If you showed Andover this thread, the school would be glad to see Tom posting, seeing as how he is stepping up and trying to teach a lesson to an ignorant person like yourself.

oh hes sure steppping up your right, hes showing how arrogant and rude andover kids are he make andover look bad and he proves all my points on how hades kids think there better than everyone else, its funny tom trys to hype himself up so much he said on a post that edinburghs poly science and french major had a 8 percent acceptance rate or something ricidulous like that? theres no way in hell that a program like that at edinburgh has a 8 percent acceptance rate you got to be joking me! are you serious edinburgh isnt even that hard to get into escpecially for students who go to school in north america you can easily get in with a 3.0- 3.3 gpa. tom is just thinks hes better than everyone else and he thinks hes so damn special but hes a joke, he comes on this forum and just bashes kids.

Hmm I’m just going to be straight up. To me it seems deerhotch your an angry child bc you got rejected from prep schools and lash out at “full blow” kids or kids who got into boarding school because in reality you are too insecure to accept your shortcommings and blame others. I guess I qualify as a full blow applicant you are talking about bc I had. 3.5 gpa… Oh wait I’m a full financial aid applicant?!?

Really? Grow up

Ugh. Never a dull moment on the CC boards

@tomthecat I didn’t know your “damn special but a joke”. I also didn’t know you were such a bully

You know, it was news to me as well

quit trying to hype yourself up and pretending that your better than everyone else, your pathetic. some people just cant handle the truth and its very unfortunate on how clueless some people on CC are… most of the ppl on CC were FA applicants on and they either got rejected or wait listed. plain and simple if your wealthy your not only have better stats because you can afford the ec’s and tutors and private education therefore its very easy to get into hades. if you a fa applicant and you cannot afford all of that and you look like a weak applicant. example a hades school has 1800 applicants and accepts 200 students out of that 200 student 140 of those kids are full blow applicants so that means there are 1660 fa applicants applying for 60 spaces. that is why hades are so selective , the selectivity has nothing to do with anything scholastic its mearly about money. hades schools are a business and america is in a recession, the schools are looking for as many full blow applicants as they can find

Very creative, deerhotch. Creative use of grammar, too!

Deerhotch, like I said before. I was accepted to 6 schools out of the 11 that I applied to. I received full FA offers for all of them. I’m not from an underrepresented area, nor am I a legacy applicant. Your comments are not only hurtful to FP applicants and students, but also the students who were accepted and received aid. The fact that you try to find various excuses for one being accepted with FA gives the impression that you honestly don’t think that any FA applicants were deserving of the financial aid they received. Also, while I’m sure your posts are typed in haste, please proofread them. They are painful to read.

try re-reading my previous post again i think you may have misread it a bit. FP applicant get in hades easily, FA applicants dont. bottom line

We get that that’s your bottom line, and we’re trying to explain to you that it’s false. NO ONE gets in easily.

your wrong, very wrong you wouldnt know ok your a legacy who comes from a very underrepresented country how on earth would you know anything? how would you know how hard it is to get in when you went to a private ib school and had basically everything spoon fed to you? you have no clue what your talking about and your just upset because im the first person to set it straight to you but hades schools are easy to get into, you only want to pretend their difficult to get into becuase you want to make yourself look special and elite but the fact is if your rich and you have connections hades schools are easy to get into. this isnt just my bottom line, its just the facts, its the truth and im sorry that you cant handle that. you and ever other hades kid just wants to pretend that their special and elite and selected, and they think their better than everyone else, but the only reason why 90 percent of hades kids actually attend the schools is because of money and the fact they have had everything spoon fed to them their whole life. its just one big joke
