White female English major (whoop-dee-doo)
One of the most competitive high schools in the country (nationally ranked)

GPA: 3.26 (yeah I know... it sucks)
Freshman and sophomore year it was 3.1. Junior year it was 3.4, sooo... upward trend yeah?!
Five APs: History, Lang, Literature, French, and Government. GovPol has two AP exams, so technically I'll graduate with six.
I got fives on Lang and APUSH.

ACT: 29.
33 on English, 32 on Reading, 25 on Math, 24 on Science (good thing I'm majoring in English).
11 on essay.
Took once.

Extracurriculars:
Volunteer with special needs kids (my main extracurricular. I'll have 100+ hours of volunteer work with this and volunteering at nursing home.)
Literary magazine
Horseback riding (I did a show once...)
Babysitting
Petsitting
French Club--Junior year we raised money for the disaster in Haiti
Gay-straight alliance (I've done day of silence since freshman year).
Guitar lessons
Volunteer at nursing home, like mentioned above

I took the National Latin Exam
Took two languages junior year
I've taken French since sixth grade

Essay is supposed to be excellent. I wrote about a homeless man my mom is friends with. Everyone I showed it to loved it and it made my parents cry.

They actually don't take recommendations online, so I'm thinking about asking my teachers to mail them. I asked an English teacher I've had for three years who loved me, so it should be excellent, and I asked a math teacher whose class I worked really hard in. She also really liked me and told me it would be good.

For my work with special needs kids, I've done a therapeutic drumming circle, a cooking class, one-on-one work with a kid who has aspergers, and one-on-one work with the special ed kids at school. I elaborated on this in extra information.

I've won three awards--one for my work with special needs kids, I had a poem published, and I got this, erm, award for archery in gym that I kind of sort of put on my application as a joke.

I wrote a personal statement at the end of my common app, basically saying that I was picked on badly in middle school and didn't get as involved as I would like. I said I plan on joining the equestrian team and volunteering and basically completely immersing myself in the college experience if accepted, which is true.

For my supplement, for Binghamton, I plan on writing about how much I've always wanted to volunteer in Africa, and how, when I was depressed, I kind of held onto this hope that one day I could volunteer with an organization called Invisible Children, and that helped me through.

In extra information, I also said I will probably take a gap year. Which I do plan on doing. I said I've looked into city year, Americorps, Brown Ledge, and various other organizations. I've also extensively looked into doing volunteer work overseas, although finances make this difficult. This is all very much in the planning stage but I plan on keeping the college extensively updated on what I'm doing.

Weaknesses:
no science senior year (meaning no physics pour moi)
that gosh-darn GPA
I'm not even in the top half of my graduating class...
I mean, my extracurriculars are good. They are. I'm devoted to everything I do, but I could have done more...

Schools:
Binghamton. This is my top choice. I really freaking want to go to Binghamton but it's super hard to get into and I don't know if my whole volunteer with special needs kids, wanting to go to Africa thing is enough to actually get me in. Based on the numbers alone, I'd say I have less than a ten percent change based on my GPA, and I'm not in the top half, while 85% of students are in the top 25%. But.... my courseload scores are good! Anyway.
SUNY New Paltz

If you read all this and will chance me I'll love you. I really will.
