If you chance me, I'll bake you cookies. Pretty please!

Hi all, I'd really love it if you would chance me on some colleges. This isn't a set list, but I would appreciate any feedback you have so I have a better gauge on where and what to aim at. Everything on this page is just the truth and I'm not trying to inflate (or deflate) my achievements.
Any suggestions would also be fantastic!

Let’s bump this up, please! Any feedback means so much to me.

Don’t you want cookies?

While I’m no expert, I have a feeling you’ll at least be considered by the majority of universities listed. It is probably important to distinguish yourself from other overachievers in your essay(s), though. There are tons of students all over the US that excel like you do that simply aren’t interesting individuals. :P

Yale SCEA: High match (reach if RD)
UPenn Wharton:
MIT: Reach
Penn State Schreyer’s Honors College: Reach (Schreyer’s is the same as an Ivy, but regular PSU is a safety)
UChicago: Reach
Cornell: Reach
Princeton: Reach
Williams College: Reach
Duke: Reach
UMich-Ann Arbor: Safety
Swarthmore College: Reach

Do you have another safety?

I completely agree. The essays are critical for all of us overachievers (aka basically everybody who applies to these schools) because we all have good qualifications and they need some way to know our personalities.

And I do have other safeties, I was just listing some general schools that I know I’d be more so reaching toward.

Do you do two-person debate in PA? Is that what you have gone to Nationals for or some other form? If it is in two-man, this is incredibly impressive (impressive no matter what) as PA is one of the best debate states in US. If this is the case, you should look at Dartmouth, USC, and Wake Forest as all of these schools give money for debate scholarships.

Did you take SAT a second time to bump up your reading score? If not and you are serious about Yale, I suggest you do so in November. There should still be time for them to consider it. 1520 CR + M is awesome, but at Yale not a stand out and you probably can do better on the reading part.

Academics look on track as Yale likes Vals and Sals and that is what you are. Especially impressive given your activities. I debated in HS in Ohio and know how time consuming debate is along with all of the weekend travel. Colleges will know that too.

Curriculum looks awesome and beyond even what is expected of students at the top colleges.

Ok so here are my guesses. You are a strong candidate at all of these schools.

Yale SCEA = low reach (50/50 and good use of SCEA in my book), MIT (same), Williams (RD much harder than ED there), and Princeton (same) (but bet you get into at least one and probably two of them)

Penn and Chicago (high match – 50 - 66%; reason this low for Penn is they take 50% ED making the RD pool very hard and for Chicago so much depends on the essays)

Cornell, Duke, Swarthmore = matches even RD (66 to 90%)

UMich and Penn State = safeties

@muckdogs07
Yes, I do policy debate (the one where you read really fast) with my debate partner. I’ll look into those schools!
As for SATs, I have only taken them once, but I am considering to take them again because I wasn’t that pleased with my reading score.
Thank you so much for your input! It was very helpful and I appreciate it greatly.

Let’s bump this a little more!

Solid. Set your self apart from every other overachiever in your essays and you’ve got a great shot.

Yale SCEA: High match
UPenn Wharton: Reach
MIT: Low reach
Penn State Schreyer’s Honors College: Safety
UChicago: Low reach
Cornell: Low reach
Princeton: Reach
Williams College: Low reach
Duke: Low reach
UMich-Ann Arbor: Match
Swarthmore College: High match
