If you could change one thing about yourself...

What would you change?

I would change my weight/height. I'm too skinny. I'd love to be a little taller and actully have a body. While I'm writing this..any tips on gaining weight???

Eat more food.

thanks for your sarcasm..but maybe something more specific from someone who understands my situtation.

this depends on whether or not you gain muscle easily, but if you really want to gain weight, hit the gym...I went from about 120 to 135 in four weeks...you don't just gain muscle, though. The exercise seems to stimulate bone growth bc I've "filled out", too. :) What is your diet like, currently, in terms of amounts of protein, fiber, starches, fruits and veggies?

As for changing things...right now, I'd love to be able to self-heal the muscles in my lower legs so that I can go back to running my three miles every day

I understand I just felt like being an ass. I am overweight, not by a lot but by enough. But seriously, eat more food, I don't know a specific way but that's all I got.

taller. bigger. stronger.

My skin...way too dry

lol thanks zulinlaw

Is running enough to gain muscle? My mom tells me to lift weights but idk it doesnt seem to be my thing

Well I go to the gym and do cardio and I don't lose any weight so it must be turning into muscle cause I have been going to the gym for over a year for 3 days every single week. If you just work your body hard you will gain the weight. Maybe together with running might work, but running by itself won't make you gain weight you will lose it fast, maybe not you in particular but for people who weigh too much. So just go to the gym a lot :).

ohhh sorry I wasn't clear...I run and do some weights on my own wi/ resistance bands, a 15 lb. weight and my own body weight for calisthenics...I'm afraid to make a fool out of myself wi/ the free weights in front of all the guys at the gym :p

My acne, my voice, my hair, my build, in that order.

XCchick44, not to really get behind the science of all of it, so I'll try to make it as easiest explanation possible....

Running is a type of exercise that uses your slow-twitch muscle fibres which after a short period, you will not gain muscle. Rather, your body will get better at using type I fibres which are smaller but more energy efficient. I'm assuming you're female so you would probably perfer smaller calves.

However, if you're referring to about your arm size, etc. Running will not help you gain a rounder arm, which you should then work on lifting weights. A popular myth and fear of females is that they'll turn out to one of those professional bodybuilder freaks, but let that not scare you. Females lack the quantity of hormones, (specifically) testeronome(sp.) to gain that large size. The huge female bodybuilders that you see are all on steroids.

My perception of others...at times I feel that I am too cynical...

what about protein bars? or are those not good for you or something?

yeah those women bodybuilders all insist in deep manly voices that they don't take steroid and they don't understand why everyone accuses them of doing so :D

extremefob, depends on the type of protein bars you're eating. Some protein craps are indeed crap, a low BV rate and horrendous type of proteins placed inside.

However, proteins are essential for breakdown to amino-acids for repair and building of muscle so if one is indeed short on protein, using protein-bars would be one method to attempt to supplement to a recommended daily protein intake. Most people never come even close to meeting the recommended daily intakes. This effects many teenagers a lot later in their lives.

^^^ female bodybuilders....

Just plain scary...its nice for women to have some muscle but not to the extreme....

I am sure the OP does not want to take it to that level.

Have more talent at sports.

Actually, most of my difficulty comes from lack of depth perception--because I was born with crossed eyes, I had an operation to fix it that caused a drop in depth perception, which makes it much harder for me to, say, catch a ball.

I'm gonna have nightmares for a week now!! How do they even find clothes that fit?

They probably just buy guy clothing.
