If you could have done something different in high school...

I would've joined tech crew in Freshman year, like somebody else said. Just so I could've gotten higher on the "tech ladder".

Also, I would've switched dance studios Freshman year instead of Junior year. If I had, I wouldn't have a pulled hamstring and I'd be an overall better dancer.

I know those things don't sound important, but when every school wants a portfolio/audition for their dance/theater majors, it's VERY important.

I wish I would have started volunteering earlier.

I wish I'd started fencing earlier. Not really 'cause it would look better, but because I haven't had enough fun in the past three years.

I would have applied to be a congressional page as a junior. Not because it would look good (whatever it is that colleges want, I apparently already had - I got into six US News Top 20 schools), but because it would have been a great experience and I probably would have enjoyed it a lot and looked back on it fondly. One of my classmates did it and enjoyed it a lot.

I happened to have gotten into my top choice (an HYP) but slightly because of that and the fact I was so darned tired -- I totally goofed off and DID NOT take a single AP exam my senior year. I REALLY regretted that decision because I was the most ready come Spring. My brain just ejected most of that material the summer before college -- booooo!

After all of you receive your notifications and you reply to the schools, don't slack off. Push through and take those AP tests!!!!!
