If you could start college over again, what would you do differently?

just wondering.

I would have taken easier classes my freshman year, joined more clubs, and thought more seriously about school.

Joined a few clubs my freshman year. I’m gonna be doing that now as a sophmore anyways but you know…still wouldv’e liked to do it as a freshman. Also I wish I had known how slow the financial aid department can work. I wouldn’t have looked for courses that didn’t require me to have a textbook my fall semester.

Would’ve considered an all girls school.

I would have gone out more. It’s so easy just to stick around home but you only get to experience this once so I don’t want to squander it any more.

I would’ve immediately changed to a B.A. in Music. It’s a lot easier than having a major crisis later.

I would get out of chemical engineering in freshman year instead of waiting until the end of sophomore year, and do a chemistry and statistics double major instead. Because I waited so long to switch it was only possible to do chemistry.

I would have tried to take more classes my first semester, or taken classes this summer. I thought I needed a break in between spring and fall semesters, but it turned out not to be the case.

Dorm Room: I would have brought fewer sets of sheets and towels. I had way too many and ended up washing them and using them over and over instead of switching them out, plus they are bulky and just take up much needed storage space.

Environment: I am so happy that I joined a club - it plugs you into your university, helps you meet older students and students your age, and helps you feel connected. It may feel awkward at first, but I formed my strongest friendships that way.

I would have dumped my girlfriend and lived on campus.

I would have worked less hours per week so I could actually have time to have a life outside of work and classes. I lived in a dorm and all, but never had the time to actually enjoy the lifestyle.

Move to another state and obtain my residency there for in-state tuition and then start as a freshmen instead of starting school in California just so I could go immediately without having to worry about out of state tuition costs.

I also would pick easier science classes for my general ed. because science has NEVER been my friend academically. I picked hard ones and I ruined my gpa.

I would of joined another club (I joined the only business one, and enjoyed it a ton), and worked harder to improve my grades. Further I would of spent another year at my CC (still regret leaving, my hatred of the town got the best of me) to get my generals out of the way while still being involved in a club.

Basically, if it was one thing, it would of been never leaving my CC after getting my degree, I’ve regretted it since my first semester at my new school last year.
