Right, so if you can go to Denison University, ohio and Union College, New york, where would you go and why?
These both college are my final and I want to go to both of them (not possible, obviously!) so yeah, give me your opinion...

BUMP

BUMP
I really need help
I am confused!

My DD1 attended Denison. She grew very attached to a few of her teachers. It’s a beautiful campus in a very picturesque town. I can’t comment on Union. Can you afford both?

What are the net costs of both?
What do you want to study?
Why did you choose those to apply to? (e.g., location, size, urban/rural, etc.)

I note that Denison is 50 and Union is 41 for National Liberal Arts Univ in US News&RR, so that is about the same.

Also try asking this in the Denison and/or Union subforums and see what they have to say.

@Erin’s Dad I can afford both of them… That is not a problem

@bopper Cost is not a problem. I am not sure want I want to study but most probably something in English, Classics, French, or spanish… I applied to both of them because both offer great programs in the area I want to study, according to my research, and also that I can imagine myself studying there, though because I am an international student, I haven’t visited them.

the weather can be rough at all three of these, but certainly not as rough as many US colleges. Union might have the worst of the three. I actually prefer Union to the other two for liberal arts, but it has a poor rep as a party school. Denison and Ohio are not much different in this regard. Frankly, I’m not that thrilled with your options.

Did you happen to get into the honors program at Ohio?

@jkeil911 no i mean just denison and union
i mentioned ohio as in to state where denison is…
my options are union college and denison university

my bad.

They are pretty comparable.

1.) I would go to the one that is cheaper.
2.) If costs aren’t an issue, I’d say Union is slightly more prestigious but Denison has the more down-to-earth students.

Union used to be a NESCAC school so I think it shares a similar vibe to that conference, but I think Denison has a more laid-back (and less snobby) feel.

@timetodecide12 is it true, as per what I have heard, that because the international students are in minority in Union, they are… what you may call… secluded from the rest of the students. I read it here on the CC’s union site. Do you have any clue about that?

Union is a liberal arts college so it is likely going to smaller/more cliques than a large university. I think Union seems to attract the type of kids who went to prep/boarding schools. However, if you are sociable person I think it is possible to make friends at any university.
