If you could get into any school in the world but have to repeat a grade would you do it and why?

Nopes. Did you decide whether you’re going to go to Andover as a repeat yet?

Yeah, I would. Actually, I’m planning on applying as a repeat sophomore. My birthday is in June, so I’m already young for my grade. It wouldn’t be that big of a stretch. I don’t see how it’s that big of a deal… It’s just one year.

i wouldn’t repeat, either. i want to graduate on time with the rest of my peers and as much as i like school, 14 years would be a little bit too much …

@ bama: LOL june is early? isn’t that like … the perfect middle ground? this is coming from someone born in september, but yeah i mean if its repeat soph vs junior, i kinda understand why

Yes i would. In fact I am. I don’t think repeating is really all that bad and I got into the only BS I actually wanted to go to (or applied to for that matter).

I sometimes wish my d would have been a repeat freshman, but she didnt really want to and the schools said she didnt need to. She has a very late August b-day so she is always the youngest. I would loved for her to have another year at bs. I would like her to consider a year abroad or a PG year before college.

As a college instructor, i feel that many kids rush to much get in and out of college, enjoy life a little. There is much to learn int the teen/early 20 years in the world outside of the classroom.–IMHO

Any school I wanted? Yes, I think that not only with the extra year help me to adjust and perhaps excel, but will also provide me with another year at this school I love.

yes!!definitely (since iz any school I wanted).Although i’m already a bit older than other people in my grade (a month). I’ll be applying as repeating sophomore.
Id b able to get more BS experience .Lots of people choose to repeat a year in BS anyways.

By the time some students turn 18, they will be ready for the less restrictive environment college offers. Boarding schools have many rules that must be followed. It’s hard to imagine how you will feel 4 years from now. That is the biggest negative I can think of for repeating. It seems to work well for some students, not just athletes.

Yes I would. I feel I’d gain more from another year.

no. i’m already older than most, (my bdays in september) and last year as a freshman it was painfully obvious who the older ones were. there were 6 or 7 of us with august/september birthdays and that was a big difference, mostly. obviously there is fluctuation, but i wouldn’t repeat a grade. also im at the only bs i wanted to go to :)

My daughter is applying as a repeat. It was her idea. She says the school she wants to go to is a place she would love for LIFE, not that she doesn’t have other plans brewing…
I know at her age I was in a hurry to go anywhere. Anywhere, everywhere, nowhere or even just old somewhere, but always elsewhere.

We are very different people, and I am constantly learning from her.
