Does that mean you are rejected or waitlisted?

I wouldn’t assume either until the college says so. I know that’s really unfair suspense…sorry…

First time posting! From all the postings that I have read, only admitted students received emails.

I realize that only admitted students receive emails, but is it possible to be admitted and NOT have received an email?

My daughter was admitted last year and didn’t get a phone call or email. Just the letter in the mail.

Thanks, DeskPotato, that was what I was looking for. A little hope. Although you wouldn’t think it would take extra money or effort to email everyone who was accepted, so why leave someone off the list?

I also did not get an email…trying to stay hopeful but expecting the worst

Completely agree, Parent 46. And there are other reports in other American threads of kids who got no call or email, but got in last year.

That said, this is causing unnecessary (IMHO) stress in our house as well. Seriously, at a time when American should be putting forth their best effort (they want a lot of those accepted to choose American, right?), this reflects poorly on the University.

I’m really not going to worry about it. The whole system seems so, like, muddled and slightly unprofessional. The emails seem random. When I get an email that says I’m rejected, I’ll believe I’m rejected. Till then, the suspense continues…

This is what happened last year, too. Horrible process, made a very bad impression.

On the other hand, admitted students’ day made a great impression, and we figured that you only have to deal with the admissions office that one time…

Thanks for the info. I am disappointed in a lot of the admissions offices at many of the larger private schools that I applied to. It’s like they do everything they can to get you to apply so they can get their application fee, and then receiving your answer is a big fat ?

-Trying to get answers…lol over $600 spent on applying to college alone when in the end we only pick one school… I wish I would have listened to my parents on this one. Also I empathize with anyone who was not able to “afford” applying to every school they wished for.

In the end DeskPotato is right…“We only have to deal with the admissions office that one time”… LOL that one time…

“Let me put you on hold”

If people who did not receive e-mail could follow up and post decision here, that would be great, and helpful for next years applicants.

You are right. And we’ll all know eventually… going to check the mail box right now ;)

Last year, the acceptances rolled out for about two weeks, with certain geographical areas getting letters, then the next, then the next…the suspense it created was painful!

Mail just came, nothing from AU, no e-mail as of yet…we are in RI

Just got acceptance package in the mail and I never received an e-mail!!

Just received the fat envelope today in New York. No email.

My daughter also got an acceptance package yesterday (in Maryland) with no advance email notification.

My child got their package today in the mail, but no email. Admitted for Spring 2013 and was invited to do the Washington Mentorship Program in the Fall. Not sure why they do this? It says Washington Mentorship program takes 125-150 kids overall, yet acceptance letter from AU says that they had 17k applicants for 1575 spots at the University. So are we to view this as any sort of an exclusive program, or just a way to keep kids interested in the school once the first semester is over and some freshmen drop out?

im starting to worry. i live in northern va which is like 30 min from DC but i still havent received anything. my friend found out yesterday when school ended which was around 2:30m im actually super disappointed/sad. this is ridiculous
