can you get a good paying financial career? or get your MBA from a top 20-30? By good i mean clubs, GPA 3.4+. Ill be majoring in finance and should have no problem transferring to a top 100 from community college. DePaul, Miami U, PITT, Penn state, Syracuse, and alot more but those are my top choices right now. I want to eventually work in hedge funds as a trader and plan on starting my career as a proprietary trader in chicago or new york.

That sort of ‘dream’ career is over right now. (That sort of career is famously litered with failures and burnouts too.) It is unrealistic to be so narrow, I think. You might do better with an Econ major with math/stats minor as well. Business majors are kinda lightweight. I am a little influenced by the fact that my daughter graduated in '09 and there were no such jobs for her Phi Beta Kappa Cum Laude friends from a top 20 university. Hopefully times will be better when you graduate.

For MBA, it is usually only worth it for a top national or regional school. And a reputable school won’t take you unless you have worked 5 to 10 years and have accomplishments.

what about a double major in finance/economics and minor in international business? There is still plenty of opportunites in prop trading but it takes a trader to get one which luckily i am a trader by heart and mind. But hedge funds/investment banking/corperate finance/private equity/ anything else would do just as well as long as i make good money that i can trade in my account for early retirement.

Admission to the top MBA programs is very dependent your work experience. The name of the college that you graduated from is much less important than the professional resume you have built up since graduation.

but as far as getting a professional job to get into an top MBA what type of entry level positions should i be lookin into? and what about a double major in finance/economics
