what?! why am i reading that "if you don't get a 5, don't report it"? And you're allowed to just "not report" it?
Where on the application does it even list for you to report AP scores? And is it true that a score of 4 is bad? I know a lot of kids get 5s, but still... it's that harsh?

4's are not bad.

If you're using the Common App, AP scores are reported in the Academic Honors & Awards section.

Definitely report a 4 - it's high enough to get credit at many places, and it will show schools that you know your stuff. (Far worse to not report it and have them assume that you got a 3 or below, as well.)

If you have an AP score, report it!! Only CCers get bent out of shape if the score is 3 or 2 or 1!!. The admin folks don't see it as a belmish on your otherwise fine record.

even at HYPS?

Who cares about HYPS?

If you get rejected, you get rejected, and you'll look back at everything you did to impress them with your application as one of the most pathetic parts of your life. Just be honest on the application, don't worry if it's good enough (because if it is, it is, and if it isn't, it isn't), write your essay, and apply. Easy.

I guarantee that 95% of HYPS applicants have gotten a 4 on an AP test.

No ones that perfect, and if they are, who cares.

haha yeah.... i think i was just a bit wound up from seeing all you CCers too much. :P thanks for the reassurance.

Even HYPS!

Check out this thread.

HYPS is probably the most important thing anyone can achieve in his or her life. You should probably base your entire life around what you think will get you in.

^Haha, really. That seems like the common life goal on this forum.

I don't understand why people don't realize that there are so many students of the caliber that HYP admits. Just because you didn't get in doesn't mean you didn't deserve to, it means there were no spots after the other good students, the legacies, and the Richy Riches (and trust me, they exist; I am near UPenn, and they drink, alright: hard liquor...only at an ivy...).

really, there are other schools other than HYPS. plus why is stanford even included? its not even an ivy!

laurstar07, even though that's a step up, I still don't think you have the right mentality...

im not saying that its bad (its actually an excellent one, but everyone knows that already), but usually everyone here is always obsessed with ivy league schools. i was saying that why is it included in the HYP (all ivies) and then S. if anything, it should be HYPBDCCP...S

I wasn't talking about that.

Your HYPBDCCP thing just went even further into the bad mentality I was talking about. There are good, yes, even better, schools out there than the Ivies.

And as my teacher said, there's no such thing as a bad college. In the end, everyone's learning the same thing. I used cost and location as two main factors in my decision and I'm really happy with my choice. That might be because I don't have to pay a cent, compared to some people paying 40k a year.

broke record: it doesn't matter. i would hold back from a 1 though. that may not look good.
