This seems to be the case at my school. Even Princeton says they accept half of the applicants who score a 2400. Any1 experience similar results at their hs?

No, this is not true at all. There is a big difference between a 2100 and a 2350. Yes, there are probably many cases of people with 2100s getting into schools that people with 2350s get rejected from. But the fact is that a person with a 2350 starts off with an initial advantage over a person with a 2100, and the person with the 2100 has to make up for this with better GPA, ECs, essays, and recs.

To say its the same is an exaggeration, but to say that someone has an advantage because they have a few more points on the SAT is also an exaggeration. I don't think there is that much difference between a 2200 and a 2300. The difference is likely the student themselves, as those who get 2300s are more likely to be better qualified. Getting that score though, is not going to increase your chances, nor is retaking the test five times to get a better score going to do it either.

The low SAT range from recent acceptance statistics at D high school:
Columbia: 2140
Cornell:2120
Stanford:2190
Brown:2120

Not sure they are athletes or not.
