If you don't pass an AP, does it count against you?

Is there a penalty if you don't pass one AP out of several? Or do colleges usually look at what you were able to accomplish on the other tests as opposed to the one that you didn't get a good score on?

I'm really scared for one of my self-study APs, that's why.

Thank you for your time.

AP scores are self-reported, so I don’t think you’d have to report a really bad score if you didn’t want to. That said, they might think it was weird if you’d taken the class but not the test.

Ah, thank you! :D

Well, it’s a self-studied AP that I’m worried about.

I am in an AP US History class at my school. I have a pretty good average (around 92 unweighted), but my school only reports 4’s and 5’s, and there’s no way I’m getting a 4 (I’m bad at history, but good at memorizing one chapter for a test).

Will this hurt my chances of admission for top schools? I’ll have an AP Physics score (I’ll definitely get a 4, maybe a 5), and 5 AP classes next year, but will the lack of a history grade with a history AP class hurt my chances?

thanks

If it’s self studied, don’t worry! If you do well, that’s great and if you don’t it can’t count against you at all.

I really have no idea how they handle AP scores as far as admissions go, because technically I don’t think it’s supposed to have an impact. But how can your school make sure you only send 4’s and 5’s when you self-report it?
