Does this answer depend on whether the stalker is significantly older/younger than you or not? (clearly, a 45 year old stalker is different from a 13 year old stalker - the 13 year old stalker might be trying to find someone with academic direction, which is less likely to be true for the 45 year old). Would it depend on the gender of the stalker or not?
Do you feel socially isolated?</p>

<li>yes, I would feel flattered (in most cases), irrespective of age or gender (I would be most flattered if a professor stalked me). It would be different if I knew the person to dislike me (and if I thought the person’s attitude towards me would not be likely to change). </li>

<p>But it does depend - there are those with potential to dislike me, and it’s hard trying to keep those people away from my blogs/forum posts while simultaneously trying to attract potential friends. </p>
<p>Most of my closest friends have stalked me some time or another anyhow (though probably not to the depth of reading my blog posts all the way to 2003)</p>

It might depend on the extent of the stalking though (some stalkers are really bad - I just don’t see most people who would stalk me as bad, so i wouldn’t worry if i noticed such a thing. usually stalking is bad when it comes to dominate the person’s life and the person goes to the extent of wanting to meet you IRL)</p>
<p>Xanga footprints or other blog feeds (a massive spike in blog visiting activity for example).</p>
<p>Usually, those are the only ways to know if you don’t know the stalker. </p>
<p>an easy way to figure out is simply to create a new blog/website with your internet name. (but that blog/website must have a visitor tracker). Xanga is probably best for that (as it tends to show the URL of the referrals - and it displays the state of the person). Websites with IP tracking kind of work (but I don’t know any that show “referral URL”)</p>
<p>Sometimes, the stalker might make off-hand comments (but those cases are usually rare).</p>
<p>When you know who the stalker is though (and when there is some degree of trust) - the stalker will often tell you that they did it (this usually comes with mutual trust - a few people did tell me that they googled my internet name and used the google cache on my old blogs - and they perceived that I wouldn’t mind that. )</p>
<p>snoopyiscool has an old xanga with her pic on it! BTW if someone really really wants to know stuff about you, they could probably find a lot unless you’ve isolated yourself from the internet never using the same sn twice or even mentioning name or addresses (like me).</p>
<p>trust me you don’t want a semi-attractive girl showing up out of nowhere at the end of your classes or downright ugly ones who give you letters asking you to hang out. The attention is nice for a while but then it turns downright creepy. And I don’t know how conservative Egypt is but the last time I was there I wouldn’t expect the girls to stalk guys (may be a different story now.)</p>
