If you get a scholarship and are in a 6 year direct admit program, when does the scholarship end??

Daughter accepted into direct admit 6 year [3+3] doctor physical therapy program at U Indy with a substantial scholarship…when does that scholarship end? AFter year 3 or after year 4? Thanks.

Ask the school.

Ask the school…some schools will stop at 3 because it’s an undergrad scholarship…but a few schools will let you use the extra year for grad.

Only IU can tell you.

I asked 2 schools that offered her a 3+3 with Merit scholarship and the Merit goes through year 4. Hope this helps others. Same with her track scholarship… Year 4 is considered graduation year and first year of graduate. Thanks.

D2 was a direct admit at UIndy into their graduate OT program; her undergrad scholarship ended after her fourth year. The BS degree is not awarded until the end of the fourth year. The same is true for the direct admit PT program.

Please contact the school in question. Whatever happened with others at various schools means nothing to THIS school.

The NCAA allows 5 years to play 4, so if your daughter takes a red shirt year or gets hurt, this can change from 4 straight years. Of course, some schools do not allow the student to carry over a year, and your daughter may decide not to continue with the sport after a year or two.

I agree, there is a quite a variety, smart to be looking ahead.

When we looked at combined pre-/pharmacy programs, some carried scholarship through 6 years (Duquesne), some through 4 (Pitt), and some only for pre-pharmacy (Suny Buffalo).

Things can change as well, so make sure you confirm with each school the conditions of the merit scholarship, also what GPA is needed to keep scholarship (and guarantee).
